Heavy Rains Concern Farmers

There was a cry for rain to help the dry farm fields not too long ago. But now, farmers are quite concerned about too much moisture damaging crops. Heavy rains took care of the dry fields, but the abundance of rain fall has stopped fieldwork and crops are swimming for survival.

Farms fields were hit with 5 plus inches of rain, some over 9-10 inches in Illiana. Ditches are overflowing, Rivers are flooded. And more T-storms could produce even more rainfall.
About 100 acres along the Sugar Creek stood underwater for several days and may not recover. Other areas that were underwater will find stunted yields. There’s lot of questions and concerns about how much nitrogen is left in the soil for the corn. And the saturated fields is stopping azny effort for weed control.
