Labor Day weekend events in the WGFA-listening area include the Herscher Labor Day Celebration and the National Sweet Corn Festival in Hoopeston.

The 94th Herscher Labor Day Celebration includes the annual Grand Parade at 10:30 on Labor Day morning. Long-time Herscher School secretary Thelma Webber will serve as the parade's grand marshall.

The 3-day event runs Saturday thru Monday. Many of the usual events are on the agenda, including a carnival, petting zoo, arts & crafts, and entertainment.

At Hoopeston --- young women from 43 states are represented as they compete for the title of 'Miss National Sweetheart." The young ladies are all first runner-ups from their own state's pageants, which feed into the Miss America Pageant.

The 'Sweetheart Pageant" is part of the 71st National Sweet Corn Festival at McFerren Park.

Also....this weekend is the annual Earl Park Fall Festival in Indiana.
