High winds stir fires

Ten fire departments responded to a structure fire about 6:15 (Tues) morning in Aroma Township. A family of three lost just about everything. The Red Cross is assisting. The fire had spread also damaging a neighboring home. The cause is under investigation.

In Manteno --- two houses were damaged by fire on W. 5th Street Monday night.  A brush fire burned out of control catching the houses on fire. One of the houses had flames coming from the attic area. Chief Scott O’Brien reported about $50 – 60,000 in damage. Manteno received mutual aide from Grant Park, Bradley and Bourbonnais Township.

Windy conditions the last few days aren't favorable for any burning.  Fire officials request people refrain from outside burning with winds  being so obvious.
