A Kankakee County grand jury indicted Andrew Langston, of St. Anne, for leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident that left a 12-year-old Kankakee boy seriously injured.

The May 25th accident on N. Chicago Avenue injured Marcus James. He continues to recover, having been released from a hospital.

Langston was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injuries and driving on a suspended license. If found guilty of leaving the scene, Langston could be sentenced up to seven years in prison.

Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said bond has been set at $500,000.

Langston is being held in Johnson County, Ind., on unrelated charges.

Illinois State Police DUI arrests ---

A hit and run in Iroquois County Saturday led to a DUI arrest. 59-year-old Cynthia Slavin of Kankakee was involved in a crash on Route 1 at 1400 N. State Police report she showed signs of impairment and was also arrested for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed, improper parking on a roadway, improper overtaking, leaving the scne of an accident and failing to report the accident. She was also cited for no insurance.

Troopers also responded to a pedestrian in the roadway on I-57 southbound in Iroquois County. 34-year-old Mark Blaze of Hobart, Indiana was arrested for DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Last Friday ... a trooper was dispatched to a vehicle in a pond at a rest stop on I-57. 62-year-old Michael Pardue of Mobile, Alabama was taken to a hospital due to a medical condition. He was then arrested for DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol.
