A Pembroke Township man is dead after a shooting Tuesday morning on the east side of Kankakee. City Police and the Kankakee County Coroner's office are investigating. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 815-933-0426.

28-year-old Elijah J. Robinson was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. Robinson was found in a stairwell in the 200-block of Crestlane Drive.  According to a news release from the coroner's office, it was  an early-morning shooting. Kankakee Police Chief Chris Kidwell said officers responded to reports of shots fired at 3:41 am.  Shell casings were recovered at the scene.
