HONOR FLIGHT -- providing honor & closure for veterans

American Legion Post #23 in Watseka brought area military veterans a little closer together (Friday) – for Veterans Day 2016.

The Legion Post had members assembled – for an annual event – to remember and honor the people who gave us our freedom.

But on this Veterans Day, as America steps up to unify and heal from a bitter political campaign, and a new President-Elect waits in the wing, veterans hear from a non-veteran, but aa American nonetheless who can appreciate what the veterans mean to all of us.

Connie Scott of Champaign told the local group of her experiences as a volunteer escort onboard HONOR FLIGHT –a non-profit organization dedicated to providing veterans with honor and closure.......

“I would tell anyone, go for....if you want to serve as an escort. It’ll change you, it really will,.” Scott told 94.1 WGFA News.

Ms. Scott shared her experiences and what she saw many veterans experience in making that trip to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that honor all veterans, from all branches of the military........

“It’s so difficult to explain the emotions you go thru; to hear the veterans share stories and experiences; it’s so interesting to hear them,” Scott said. “And to see the emotional looks on their faces, the tears – it’s beyond rewarding, it’s a life-changer.”

Florida State representative Jeff Miller calls the nation’s memorial breathtaking --- it’s made us all free and we owe the veterans.

And it’s the veterans who should earn the right to board HONOR FLIGHT and experience what deserve to see, for their own honor and closure.

The sounds of Veterans Day are the moving experience all American should listen to and appreciate ----
