House fire kills 2 dogs in Watseka

A structure fire in Watseka Sunday night displaced one person and killed two dogs.  Fire Chief Ken Baier reported a candle may have been the cause of the accidental fire at 440 E. Oak Street.  Flames were seen coming from the back side of the first-floor.  The fire extended to the dining room outside a back-bedroom.  There was heavy fire damage to the first-floor and smoke and water damage throughout the house.  

Chief Baier reported one person living at the residence was not home at the time.  Two dogs were lost in the fire. Fire crews from Watseka and Crescent City spend about am hour and a-half at the scene, along with Riverside Ambulance. The lone occupant was displaced.  It was also noted tere were no smoke detectors in the house.
