A four-vehicle crash on I-57 north of Gilman Saturday left a suburban-Chicago man dead. 53-year-old Shuwei Chen of Morton Grove was pronounced dead at the scene.

Illinois State Police and the Iroquois County Coroner's Office are investigating. Chen's northbound car was rear-ended by an SUV merging back into traffic near a construction zone. Two other cars were involved after the initial contact with Chen's car. No other serious injuries were reported.

Coroner Bill Cheatum said Chen had left Champaign after dropping off his son at the University of Illinois.
