IHSA responds to Governor's indoor sports mask mandate

The Illinois High School Association is responding to Governor J.B. Pritizker's announcement of a mask mandate for indoor sports.  The IHSA is complying with the mandate and applying it to athletes, coaches, pfficials, game personnel, and fans regardless of vaccination status.  The IHSA says the mandate is in effect for all fall sport practices and contests that take place indoors.  Swimmers and divers will not be required to wear masks while competing, but must wear them at other times.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson said the announcement "will not deter us from our mission of safely offering high school athletes in Illinois the opportunity to participate in sports and activities."  He said "we hope all Illinoisians do their part to strop the spread of COVID-19."
