IHSA says Basketball to start up, Football goes March 3rd

High school basketball and football are returning in Illinois. The Illinois High School Association announced (Wednesday) basketball season will start immediately and run until March 13th. Teams will need seven days of practice before they can play games, and the schools must be in COVID-19 regions that have reached Phase 4. Schools OK to start include those in Iroquois, Ford, Champaign and Vermilion counties.  Chicago and all of the suburban regions, including Kankakee County, are currently not in Phase 4 yet.  Football teams can start practices on March 3rd and games on March 19th. Both sports won't have a postseason.
