The 2023 Illinois State Fair opened Thursday with improved fairgrounds after over $50 million was spent for renovations.
The fair in Springfield will run through Sunday, August 20, and will be centered around agriculture while featuring music, games and food vendors. The popular Butter Cow was unveiled Wednesaday at the fairgrounds. It's on display in the Dairy Barn.
4-H and FFA members from the local area will participate in state competition with the respective winning projects from local County Fairs.
Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher, welcomes residents from all over to the capital city.
Lt. Gov. Julianna Stratton says the fair is a celebration of Illinois and its residents.
Tickets to the fair cost adults $10, seniors $3 and children under 12 are free.
