Traffic fatalities reported in Livingston and Vermilion counties and in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

Indiana State Police report five people were killed after a semi crash on Interstate 65 early this (Friday) morning.

Police said a tanker was traveling too fast when it entered the construction zone near the State Road 43 exit. The tanker hit a car that was pushed into the embankment. The tanker then hit a minivan before rear ending another semi carrying frozen chicken. A fire then started and spread from the tanker to the minivan.

State Police confirmed five fatalities with one of those being the driver of the tanker. A man, woman and child in the minivan were killed, as well as the driver of the car pushed into the embankment.

All of their identities are being withheld until families are notified.

The crash closed I-65 southbound at the State Road 43 exit. The northbound lanes re-opened around 6:30 am.
In Livingston County, the 30-year-old driver of an SUV was dead at the scene of a crash in Long Point Township. It was at 300 E Road. The victim's vehicle was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The crash is being investigated by Illinois State Police and the Coroner's office. An autopsy was ordered by Coroner Mike Burke.

And in Vermilion County, a two car crash Thursday morning killed a Ridge Farm woman. 60-year-old Amy Pipes was ejected from her vehicle when it collided head-on with a car driven by 20-year-old Shelby Smith of Catlin.

A state police reconstruction team is investigating. The crash happened on the Westville-Catlin Road at 7:15 am.
