The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.4 magnitude earthquake was measured Monday morning near Somonauk.  Officials reported the earthquake struck about two kilometers northwest of Somonauk at approximately 2:53 am. The intensity indicated the quake could be felt as far north as the Illinois - Wisconsin border reaching as far east as Chicago. No injury or property damage has been reported.
