Illinois Hospitals earn passing grades for patient safety

Most Illinois hospitals scored well in a new patient safety report. The grades attempt to capture the risk of errors and accidents at facilities around the country.

Missy Danforth, with The Leapfrog Group, says 29-percent of Illinois hospitals achieved an “A” grade.  On the other end of the spectrum, eight hospitals received a “D” grade and one, Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, got an “F”.

Danforth says the size of a facility shouldn’t matter when it comes to creating a safe environment for patients.  Illinois ranked 27th nationally in percentage of hospitals that received top marks. You can find more at hospital-safety-grade-dot-org.
