The Illinois House of Representatives has adopted a resolution honoring Marvin and Sharon Perzee of Iroquois County on their more than 50 years of advocating for farms and local fairs in Illinois. State Representative Tom Bennett presented the Perzees with a formal copy of the resolution on Saturday.

“Over the years, Marvin and Sharon have shown such a wonderful love and passion for county fairs, agriculture and our next generation of Ag leaders,” Bennett said. “They both are known and respected far and wide for their leadership around the state of Illinois.”

Marvin has been President of the Iroquois County Fair Board since 1972, a period during which the fairgrounds has expanded with new buildings and become one of the premiere county fairs in Illinois. Marvin and Sharon have both been volunteers with the Ashkum Chargers 4-H club for half a century. Marvin also served on the Agricultural Advisory Board for former Congressman Tom Ewing (R-Illinois) and continues in that role with Bennett’s advisory board today. He was named a Master Farmer by Prairie Farmer Magazine in 1999.

The resolution honoring the Perzees is House Resolution 69. It was adopted unanimously by the Illinois House in February.
