Unemployment in the Land of Lincoln is down. June was the sixteenth consecutive month that saw Illinois unemployment rates fall. State and federal statistics show the statewide rate for June was five-point-nine-percent, down from the peak in January 2010 of 12-point-two-percent.
Kankakee's unemployment was six-percent, down from 7.9% in June of 2014.
All of the state's metro areas saw the jobless rate decline last month compared with June 2014, while the number of jobs rose in all of the areas except Carbondale, Peoria and Decatur.
