The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Illinois 115 in Ford County will close starting today (Monday, June 17), for a culvert replacement project. The work zone is just north of E. 1800 North Road between Piper City and Roberts.

Illinois 115 will be fully closed in the work zone for about a month. Traffic from Piper City and Roberts can utilize a detour using Illinois 54, Interstate 57 and U.S. 24. The project is anticipated to be completed in September.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
