University of Illinois scientists are looking for property owners from all over the state after the discovery of hundreds of soil samples dating back to the 1860s. Officials with the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences said an old barn was scheduled for demolition when 450 soil samples were discovered, making it the oldest soil archive in the world. Officials are looking to resample the soil in all the locations to identify how the soil has changed over the years.
