ILLINOIS STATE POLICE LAUNCH ITS ANNUAL DRIVE HOME SCHOOL SAFETY ZONE ENFORCEMENT MESSAGE

                            Safety Education Officers Partner with School Communities on Safety

Ashkum, IL – At the beginning of every school year, the Illinois State Police partner with school districts, local and county departments, to remind the public to be cautious when driving in and around school zones.

Beginning today through the end of September, emphasis will be placed on roadway safety around schools to ensure motorist obey the laws.

ISP officials want to remind the motoring public about safe driving measures in and around the school zones:

• Reducing speeds near school zones during arrival and dismissal times
• Avoid passing school buses with stop signs activated
• No texting in school zones

If cited for the above violations, the fines range from $60 to $120 plus court fees.
