District 21 DUI Arrests
ASHKUM, IL- Illinois State Police (ISP) District 21 is reporting the arrest of Shane C. Covington, 26, of Kankakee and Stephen D. Altmyer, 56, of Bourbonnais for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
On September 21 2013, at approximately 11:36 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County. The trooper observed a vehicle who no rear plate light and no rear tail light. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver Shane C. Covington. While speaking with Covington the trooper could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The trooper had Covington perform the Standardized Field Sobriety test which Covington failed. Covington was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Covington was transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing. Covington was cited for Driving Under the Influence, No Valid Driver's License, No Rear Plate Lamp, Improper Lighting, Failure to Notify Secretary of State of Address Chance and Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
On September 22 2013, at approximately 12:49 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was dispatched to a roll over crash on Route 45/52 and 11800 North Road. When the trooper arrived on scene he spoke to the driver of the vehicle Stephen D. Altmyer. While speaking with Altmyer the trooper could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Due to Altmyer's level of intoxication he was unable to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Altmyer was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Altmyer was transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing. Altmyer was cited for Driving Under the Influence, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
