Hundreds of hospitals are getting millions of dollars from the state.
As a part of the Illinois Jobs Now program, Gov. Pat Quinn announced $71.3 million in grants to hospitals.
"These investments create hundreds of good construction jobs while helping these hospitals provide better service to the thousands of patients they serve every single day," Quinn said.
After first stopping at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, Quinn visited Presence Covenant Hospital in Urbana and Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon to announce to grants.
Hospitals will use the funds for building renovations, as well as to upgrade equipment and technology.
