A 23-year-old motorist from Indianapolis, stopped for speeding in Newton County, is now jailed for resisting law enforcement. Shaharian Clark was stopped for speeding (Saturday) on U.S. 41 at State Road 14. He was found to be wanted for theft out of Hendricks County.

Police report after Clark was handcuffed for the active warrant, he fled on foot from arresting officers, running into the southbound lanes of traffic on Route 41. Police said Clark was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Clark got back on his feet and tried to run again. That’s when officers tased Clark and took him into custody.

He’s now jailed in Newton County after being checked for injury at an area hospital.
