Former Cook County prosecutor Russ Baker is now acting-prosecutor in Grundy County.  He was sworn-in as the interim Grundy County State’s Attorney last week. Former State's Attorney Jason Helland is now serving as a judge.

Baker says he has submitted his name for appointment to become the County State’s Attorney.  Baker said he is concerned about the Safe-T Act bill and the abolishing of cash bail on January 1st.

The Grundy County Republican Central Committee has not released the names of other candidates under consideration.
