Involuntary manslaughter: Beating death in Watseka brings new charges

A Watseka man is now charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the beating death of a Chebanse man.

21-year-old Gregory Eisermann was in Iroquois Circuit Court Tuesday. The State's Attorney's office upgraded the charge against Eisermann following last week's death of 55-year-old Gary Guenette. Guenette died of a severe head injury inflicted during an altercation outside a Watseka bar May 9th.

Eisermann was jailed initially for aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance. His $100,000 bond was reduced (Tuesday) to $10,000.

Watseka Police reported it was an altercation outside a bar that led to Guenette's injury and the arrest of Eisermann. Police found Guenette unresponsive in a Walnut Street parking lot. He was transferred with life-threatening injuries to Carle Hospital in Urbana.
