Following the guidelines of a state executive order to social-distance, the Iroquois County Board conducted its monthly meeting (Tuesday) in short order -- with a telephone conference call. The approximate 30-minute meeting too care of essential business, minus committee reports since the committees were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Board members approved a resolution authorizing the sale of property thru the delinquent tax process to Sheldon Township. Appointments to Fire Districts and the Eastern Illinois Economic Development Authority were also approved.
County Board Chairman John Shure said after a shaky start to get everyone connected via the phoine set-up, the business matters went well. A handful of county officials conducted the conference-meeting from the Administrative Center.
Shure decided to pass on his Chairman Comments during the meeting, but said afterwards the county business matters have gone well during the emergency arrangements in dealing with the cornavirus...
County offices have been off-limits to the public to avoid health issues from the pandemic, but scheduled-appointments are welcome by contacting office personnel. Shure said the inconvenience will most likely continue for a while yet... Shure adds, the state executive order is for the good of everyone.
