The Eastern Illinois Fire Chief’s Association, along with County Board Chairman Paul Ducat and the entire Iroquois County Board, are notifying all Iroquois County residents that the burn ban that was in place County wide was lifted today (Tuesday). Much of the County still lacks rain but the decision to lift the ban was made. Residents across the County are strongly encouraged to use caution and have an extinguishing method on hand if they choose to burn. Should a lack of rain continue or if high winds develop, the ban could be reinstated.
Several other downstate fire districts are also exercising caution. Champaign County fire districts responded to a huge field fire Friday when a grain silo caught fire, flames then spreading across several acres. No injuries were reported. Officials ask citizens to exercise common sense and pay attention to weather patterns.
