Iroquois County citizens warned about scam >

Another scam is circulating Iroquois County. The Sheriff’s Department reports several elderly citizens have reported receiving telephone calls from subjects identifying themselves as “grand kids” and stating they’ve been arrested and need bond money.

The caller requests the person purchase gift cards, store cards or I-tune cards from box-store retailers. Once the cards are purchased the person is instructed to call a number and provide the gift card information ---resulting in your money disappearing !

The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department advises anyone getting such a call....to hang up on the caller, do not purchase any gift cards, contact other family members about the call and report it to local law enforcement.

NEVER GIVE SUCH CALLERS ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.
