Iroquois County: Crackdown on Underage Parties

Iroquois County law enforcement officials are announcing a serious crackdown on underage parties and other large, illegal gatherings. The sheriff’s office has received several complaints.

The sheriff’s office has issued a press release stating plans are to strictly enforce the Illinois Criminal & Vehicle Codes when it comes to such gatherings. Arrests will be made for drug possession, Drunk driving, unlawful possession / consumption of alcohol and trespassing. The sheriff’s department and Illinois state police and other municipal police departments will do what they have to control such gatherings.

Organizers are using social media to advertise the parties, most in rural areas. The parties have attracted young people from several nearby and far-away communities. Police will issue citations and tow vehicles if necessary.

The public is asked to notify law enforcement if they learn of such parties. Callers can remain anonymous.
