Two people were killed and a third was critically hurt in a 2-car crash Friday north of Cissna Park. The victims who died included a Danville woman and a suburban Glendale Heights man.

Illinois State Police reported the un-identified Glendale Heights motorist disobeyed a stop sign while westbound on 1000N Road as he approached Highway 49. His car was hit by a vehicle driven by 40-yr-old Rickey Lane of Danville.  The Lane vehicle erupted in flames.  Lane’s passenger, 37-yr-old Farrah Johnson of Danville, was killed. So was the driver who ran the stop sign. Rickey Lane suffered life-threatening injuries.

Route 49 was closed for nearly six-hours during the investigation.
