It's been one of the most popular events to bring Iroquois County and beyond together. And the annual Iroquois County Relay-for-Life is scheduled for Friday, June 10th.
The relay is at Blake Field at Watseka Community High School. This year's theme is "Super Heroes," inviting participants to wear their favorite super hero outfit.
The Iroquois County Relay has earned state and national recognition since it started in 2001, when more than $79,000 was raised. Since then, the event has poured thousands more into cancer research and pulled in more friends to share in the glorious outcome.
Carol Dexter is Sponsorship Chairman. She says the all-night event is scaled back some, but still looking for the same results.
Carol says it's the cancer survivors who are always the heroes of the event.
Carol's husband, Jim Dexter, says the weather hopefully will cooperate again – for a night of fun and great experience.
