Iroquois County jury convicts Papineau of fatal crash charges

An Iroquois County jury (Wednesday) returned guilty verdicts of reckless homicide and reckless driving against 20-year-old Dakota Papineau of Watseka.

He’s looking at a sentence ranging from probation to five years. Judge James Kinzer set a sentencing hearing date of July 19 at 1:30 pm.

The jury took two-hours to return the verdicts.

The case stemmed from a July 23, 2014 crash that claimed the life of David Senesac of Watseka. The crash also seriously injured Senesac’s 6-year-old grandson, Landon Shaw.

Prosecutors showed the jury Papineau was careless and reckless when he blew thru a stop sign at 1900N and 1600E, west of Watseka, near Crescent City.
