The Sheldon teenager found dead inside a Sheldon man’s home Monday is identified now as 17-year-old Adara Bunn. Her body was found in the home occupied by 49-year-old Arthur Jensen. Jensen is charged with 2-counts of first-degree murder. He remains jailed in Watseka on a $1-million dollar bond.
Grief counselors are available for students and faculty at Milford High School, where Miss Bunn was a student.
Jensen was back in court (Thursday). He’s now represented by defense attorney Joe Novaro of Ottawa. Judge James Kinzer set a status hearing for September 9.
Jensen was arrested after Iroquois County Sheriff deputies arrived at 315 W. Main Street in Sheldon Monday afternoon. A neighbor had reported a disturbance at the house after hearing yells from inside the home at about 4:15 pm. When police arrived, Jensen told officers there was a girl inside and he strangled her. An autopsy Tuesday revealed Adara Bunn died of strangulation.
Sheriff Derek Hagen said Miss Bunn and her mother had visited the Jensen home over the weekend for a yard sale. Later. The victim had returned to the house by herself.
Toxicology and forensic tests are not yet available.
