Iroquois County Sheriff Derek Hagen says the county’s emergency 9-1-1 system will be in good hands moving forward, after veteran Coordinator Nita Dubble retires.

The sheriff told the Judicial & Public Safety committee (Wed) “the 9-1-1 center will continue operations as usual.” He said the center is staffed with “experienced and qualified dispatchers” who are capable and knowledgeable.

Hagen added, Dubble’s expertise and years of experience will be missed.

Dubble ends a 30-plus year career in professional communications Friday. She’s not only coordinator of the 9-1-1 center, but also an experienced tele-communicator herself who provides training at the state level.

Assistant 9-1-1 coordinator Sandy Drake is expected to take on added responsibilities.

Sheriff Hagen, it’s been suggested, could be named interim-coordinator of the ETSB Board while a search gets underway for Dubble’s replacement.

A special 9-1-1 meeting has been called for Friday. The 10 am meeting is scheduled for the Highway Department.
