Illinois youth ages 10 to 17 can take advantage of free pheasant hunt opportunities. The Department of Natural Resources extends an invite for the youth to attend several hunting venues at state facilities. The sites include Iroquois, Ford and Will counties.
The Iroquois County State Wildlife Area, near Beaverville, the Des Plaines State Fish and Wildlife Area, north of Wilmington; and Moraine View State Park, west of Gibson City all host the hunts which begin Saturday, November 12.
Additional opportunities are offered November 27 and December 31 at each of the sites.
Applications are available online at dnr.state.il.us. Check-in times begin at 7 am.
Each young participant must be accompanied by a non-hunting supervisory adult. And each hunter must have completed the DNR hunter education course in order to obtain a license.
