An 18-year-old jail inmate in Iroquois County is back behind bars today (Wednesday) after fleeing from custody Tuesday night.
Christian Walder of Cissna Park may have enjoyed his brief overnight freedom, but now faces new charges of Escape and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
Walder was taken into custody without incident by sheriff’s deputies at a Cissna Park residence. He was being held at the Watseka jail on charges of burglary and theft.
The Sheriff’s Department reported the escape at 10:14 pm. Correctional Officers were in the process of administering medical treatment to inmates when Walder rushed past a Correctional Officer and jumped thru a locked window.
Sheriff deputies and Watseka Police were immediately dispatched and searched the area around the jail. The search included K-9 units from the Illinois State Police and the Bradley and Paxton Police Departments.
Police said a blood trail led police to the nearby Davis Trailer Court, where it’s believed that Walder stole a vehicle and fled the area.
