The Northern Illinois Anglers Association invites volunteers to its 42nd annual Kankakee and Iroquois River Clean Up Saturday. The event is from 8 am ‘til 1 pm.
Some 400 volunteers each year remove 15 to 20 tons of garbage from the rivers. The garbage includes appliances like washing machines, shopping carts, tires and you name it.
Volunteers helping earn a commemorative patch to wear. Refreshments are served and clean-up supplies like garbage bags are provided.
Volunteers can visit any of five registrations stations along the Kankakee River from Momence to the Kankakee River State Park.
Registration sites include: Momence Island Park, Kankakee Community College Boat Launch, Aroma Park Boat Launch, Bradley Bourbonnais Sportsmen’s Club Boat Launch and the Kankakee River State Park Pavilion near the concession stand.
