Iroquois: Reapportionment Ordinance to reduce size of County Board

The Iroquois County Board (Tuesday) voted 10-5 to reduce its size from 20 to 16 members. That’ll happen with the 2022 election as redistricting will coincide with the U.S. Census.
County Board Chairman John Shure says the current four districts will remain as is, pending the Census findings. The reduction in numbers, he says, will be more efficient .

Under the 16-member set-up, a $50 per diem will also find the Chairman paid $600 and the Vice-Chair $90 per month.

The second 20-member plan called for $35 compensation per meeting with the Chairman paid $400 per month and the Vice-Chair $80.

Shure said the County reduced its size to 20 members 10 years ago. This, he believes, will work out just as well.
