ISP expanding Crisis Intervention Training

The Illinois State Police is rolling out a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for all officers beginning this month.  The CIT programs create a connection between law enforcement professionals, mental health providers, families, and consumer advocates.  The goal of crisis intervention training is to help officers better understand mental illness, which can help resolve a crisis situation with a lower risk of injury to either party.  It can also connect individuals with treatment.
