Jail escapee faces news charges in Iroquois County

Freedom was brief for an 18-year-old from Cissna Park who fled from the Iroquois County Jail Tuesday night.

Christian Walder has been arrested for escape and possession of a stolen vehicle. He’s back in the Watseka jail after being taken into custody Wednesday morning.

Walder was being held for burglary and theft when he rushed a Correctional Officer Tuesday night. He fled the jail after jumping thru a locked window.

Sheriff’s deputies, Watseka Police and K-9 units from the Illinois State Police, Bradley and Paxton Police departments searched the Watseka neighborhood. Walder was taken into custody without incident at a Cissna Park residence.

Police said Walder stole a vehicle from a Watseka Trailer Court to flee the local area.
