Jerome Combs Detention Center: Visitors suspended

Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey has announced in-house visitors will not be allowed at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. Visitors are suspended until further notice, in an effort to curb any spread of the COVID-19 virus. The suspension of in-house visitors began at 5 pm Friday.

All visitations at the County Jail will be conducted from remote locations. Sheriff Downey also says new inmates being booked in at the jail facility will be subject to more intense medical screening questions. The sheriff also said all in-house jail programs provided by outside volunteers are suspended until further notice.
