Jobless numbers drop again in local area counties

The latest Illinois unemployment figures show jobless rates are down again in East Central Illinois. Significant drops are reported in the May numbers from where they were a year ago.

Kankakee County unemployment in May was at 4.2%, down from 4.6 in 2017.

Iroquois County is listed at 3.2%, down from 3.5 a year ago.

In Vermilion County the May 2018 unemployment rate of 5.1 percent is down from 5.7 a year ago. The city of Danville’s unemployment rate of 5.7 percent is down 1.1 percent from May of 2017.

In the Champaign-Urbana-Rantoul area last month’s unemployment rate of 3.6 percent was down slightly from the 3.8 percent rate in May of 2017.
