Bradley Police Lt. Michael Johnston has been appointed the village's new police chief. The veteran member of the force succeeds Don Kufner who resigned.
Johnston is a 19-year veteran of the department. The appointment, made by Mayor Bruce Adams, is effective through May of 2017. Johnston's appointment to chief is effective June 1.
Kufner had come out of retirement to help the department re-organize. He agreed to a two-year stint, but said he was comfortable with the progress in the department so stepped back into retirement.
