July 4 weekend busy for police in Iroquois County

Two Watseka men, a Sheldon resident, and a Kentland, IN man were among those arrested over the weekend in Watseka. 

51-year-old Daniel Smith of Sheldon was charged with assault Sunday. Police were called to a local retail outlet for a fight in progress.

A domestic situation Sunday at a residence on W. Ash Street led to the arrest of 24-year-old Jeremy Morgan of Watseka.  He was arrested for domestic battery and possession of cannabis.  Police located five cannabis plants at the residence.

39-year-old Jacob Westerhoff of Watseka was arrested Sunday night on W. Walnut Street for driving under the influence.

A traffic stop for speeding led to additional charges against 31-year-old German Cornejo of Kentland. He was also charged with DUI, no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured vehicle.
