K4 is now Pilot Hill wind farm for Iroquois-Kankakee Counties

                            Ownership changes to California company

San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy is now the principle owner of what was the K4 wind farm project. And the Pilot Hill wind farm project is ready for the first phase of construction.

EDF Renewable Energy has acquired 96% of what was K4. The project is re-named Pilot Hill. Vision Energy Group of Cincinnati was the original owner with plans to develop the K4 project and include parts of Kankakee, Iroquois, Ford and Livingston counties. The wind turbine project is now scaled down to parts of Kankakee, Iroquois and eventually, Ford.

The plan is calling for a 199-turbine, 340-megawatt wind farm. Construction of the 175-megawatt first phase may be started early in August. The plan includes 61 turbines in Kankakee County and 42 in Iroquois County. The company website sets no timeline for construction of Phase II, which includes up to 96 turbines in Ford County. They would be the Kempton area in Rogers Township.
