A Kankakee teenager was critically injured and reported to be "fighting for his life" following a shooting in Kankakee Tuesday afternoon.  Mayor Chris Curtis took to social media asking for the public to help in the investigation.  

Kankakee Police report it happened around 4 pm.  A 15-year-old male was shot in the 1100 block of East Merchant Street. The offender/offenders fled the area prior to officers arriving on scene, according to Mayor Curtis.   He said the city’s ShotSpotter system alerted police to the shooting,  Police are following up on several leads. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 815-933-0426.
