An apartment building on W. Station Street in Kankakee sustained significant damage last night. No injury was reported. The cause is under investigation, according to Fire Chief Damon Schuldt.

Four apartments were in the vicinity, but no one was evacuated. The apartment was unoccupied. The apartment building is adjacent to a tavern. Schuldt said the department did a good job quickly extinguishing the fire.

Firemen answered the call to the 900-block at 9 pm.
