Kankakee business owners indicted by Feds

The U.S. District Attorney for the Central District of Illinois reports the owners of a Kankakee business face indictment for filing false income tax returns. Raymond and Angie Adamee of Bourbonnais are charged with five counts of filing false individual income tax returns.

The couple own the Plaza Liquors Store on E. Court Street. They were indicted by a federal grand jury. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division.
The indictment alleges that for tax years 2012 through 2016, the Adamees falsely reported on their individual tax returns the income they earned from the business.

The couple are scheduled to make a court appearance in Urbana June 3.

If convicted, each count charged carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 plus the costs of prosecution.
