A 28-year-old Kankakee man is facing prison time after a jury convicted him (Monday). Carlos Venegas was found guilty of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The offenses took place in 2018.
Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said “this defendant is a predator. He stole the most sacred thing of this child, stealing her innocence. But thanks to the courage of the child, the work of sheriff’s police and KC-CASA and prosecutors this defendant was not able to take away her voice.” Rowe added, the jury believed this child and convicted him.
The felony charges carry a sentence of 4-15 years in prison.
