Kankakee: Citizen Police Academy welcomes applicants

The City of Kankakee Police Department is launching the Citizen Police Academy. And those interested are welcome to get involved and learn about the police responsibilities.

The Academy is an engaging program designed to foster a better understanding between the community and the dedicated men and women who serve and protect. Chief Christopher Kidwell says, "The Citizen Police Academy is an invaluable opportunity for residents to gain insight into the daily operations of our police force, dispelling myths, and building trust. This program is a crucial step towards strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community we proudly serve."

The program runs March 6, 2024, to May 1, 2024. The accepted applicants can expect to learn thru Insightful Sessions: Learn about various aspects of law enforcement, including patrol procedures, investigations, and community policing.

Chief Kidwell encourages residents, adding, “it’s a chance of build bridges and demystify the work of our police force.”
