Kankakee County Board Approves Referendum for Electric Question

The Kankakee County Board Tuesday approved a referendum question for November which will ask unincorporated residents if they want the county to pursue a cheaper electrical service.

The referendum will appear on the November 6th ballot.

The Board voted unanimously to place the question on the ballot seeking a less-expensive service.

County Board Chairman Mike Bossert calls the aggregation question a “no brainer.”  Bossert said the city of Kankakee and Bradley took the first steps with aggregation and it worked pretty well.  If approved, the program can offer substantial savings.

A similar referendum question is going before Vermilion County voters in November too.
